Incoming freshman Perry Smith Jr left Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend with a huge smile on his face. The 6'8 wing-forward from North Augusta, South Carolina, who enrolled at Lincoln Academy the week prior had recently been named as an All-Star at the prestigious CP3 Rising Stars Camp. But it was the chance to meet Chris Paul and compete with the best of the best that had him smiling from ear to ear!
"I thought it was going to be harder, but once I got there it wasn't that bad," said Smith upon return. Smith had a chance to unofficially visit Paul's alma mater Waker Forest, as well as North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State before the camp started. Smith had been heralded by attending media all weekend as defensive stalwart, with a big time motor and a consistently high motor! "I think as he continues to develop, everyone will continue to see just how special Perry is," said Head Coach Bryan Lippman.
On Sunday, Perry found out that he was announced to the Top 20 All Star game at the camp, honoring the top 20 players. "We're all very proud of him - [Assistant Coach, Cody Henson] was on the phone with me when they found out and let's just say it's well deserved!" Lippman said. Smith will join his teammates Saturday, August 18th as the participate in the 2018 AEBL High School Tournament of Champions at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate at 3 PM.
